CMS Techs was founded buy a couple guys who spent the past few years building hundreds of websites with Joomla and WordPress for businesses, professionals, friends, and non-profits (and countless websites with PHP/MySQL and other open-source content management systems before Joomla and Wordpress even existed).
When clients first started asking for websites built with Joomla and Wordpress - Matt and Matt (Hammond and Lawson - the founders) were quick to adapt their business focus for MediaLabPro to primarily offer Joomla and WordPress website development services, and were overwhelmed with requests from website owners who wanted to be trained in how to administer their websites once they were built. Additionally, as larger corporate clients began to adopt these systems, staff training became necessary, often on a regular basis.
Over the past few years, the process of training clients to use these popular content management systems has become quite routine for these guys - and in the process of mastering the teaching of Joomla and Wordpress Basics, they discovered an interesting trend:
Clients who were trained over the phone learned to administer their Content Management System 50% FASTER than clients who learned in a live "in person" training.
Actually, the reason for this is quite simple: during in-person trainings, clients were WATCHING someone walk them through the Content Management System; when clients were trained on the phone, they were WALKED THROUGH the process of administrating the Joomla or Wordpress CMS from start to finish, clicking and browsing through the admin themselves as the function of each menu item and button was explained in plain english.
Then thousands, and hundreds of thousands, and now nearly a hundred million websites are built with Joomla and WordlPress combined, and so they thought, "Why not turn this into it's own service? and on top of that - we'll make a bunch of supporting video tutorials and lessons on how to administer these sites for our customers."
And well, that's where we are at this point - giving Joomla and WordPress lessons on the phone and offering a library of tutorials and manuals on basic and intermediary Joomla and WordPress administration.
